Noted African Expert Joins Board of One Here One There

Tampa, Florida, November 14, 2005 - One Here…One There, a Tampa-based charity devoted to educating children in sub-Saharan Africa announces that Michael Matthews, experienced expert on African economic development, has joined the Board of Directors, according to Jan B. Latour, charity president.

Matthews, who holds a Doctorate in International Economics from Columbia University, has personally visited 42 African countries. Matthews has work with the World Bank, the U.S. Agency for International Development, the International Monetary Fund, and the United Nations. He earned a BA in Comparative Literature from the University of Georgia and holds an MBA from Georgetown University. Matthews will help One Here...One There to identify organizations in African countries through which to implement the charity’s educational efforts.

According to Matthews, “In my fifteen years of working in African development I have witnessed, assessed, managed, and participated in countless efforts aimed to alleviate poverty on the continent. Even though the vast majority of this work has been in economic development, I firmly believe the key to breaking the cycle of poverty is through education. One Here…One There is a project that can help accomplish that goal.”

“I am so pleased we have been able to add someone of Michael Matthews' experience and professionalism to our Board,” said Ms. Latour. “His first-hand contacts and work in the very countries we hope to help will advance our efforts.”

The mission of One Here…One There, an all-volunteer charitable group, is to raise funds through its unique college tuition program. Funds raised will help educate primary and secondary school children in sub-Saharan Africa where tuition can cost as little as $20.00 per year.
