One Here...One There Board Member Works for Education in Africa

From April 13 to 18, 2008, Michael Matthews, One Here...One There Board Member, attended the Africa Regional Education Workshop in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This workshop, entitled Education in a Changing World: From Vision to Action, is the culmination of more than a year and a half of planning to bring together USAID and its implementing partners in sub-Saharan Africa.

Participants shared lessons learned and discussed an array of educational issues that will provide equal access and improved academic performance for all African children. Speakers included Aicha Bah Diallo, former Assistant Director General for Education, Dr. Dzingai Mutumbuka, Chair of the Association for the Development of Education in Africa, and Ethiopian President Girma Woldegiorgis.
